Early Clover Bio
Singer/Entertainer/Musician/Producer/Arranger & Songwriter Early Clover a native of Georgia, decided at the age of 7 that he was going to be a singer/entertainer/musician. He made his first guitar out of a 2x4 and some hay strings. Clover started his first band in junior high school at the age of 14 and went on to win several awards in junior and high school competitions. Later he won state competitions that led him to become the band director and backup band for such internationally known singers as William Bell, Joe Simon, Rufus Thomas, and Carla Thomas. Clover opened for such platinum acts as The Ohio Players, Betty Wright & Tyrone Davis. This took him to New York City where he was a 7-time winner at the world-famous Apollo Theatre and three time first place winner. Clover became an Apollo favorite and he is a part of the Apollo archives at the Schomburg Institute in New York City. Early Clover is a cousin of the legendary Hall of Fame, Original Coaster Cornell Gunter. Since 1988 Clover has been the lead singer for the world-famous Hall of Fame Cornell Gunter Coasters and as such had the pleasure of performing at the inauguration for President Bill Clinton in 1996. He was production manager for the CG Coasters, Platters Drifters and Marvelettes show in nearly all the casino hotel show rooms on and off the strip. The show ran in the Congo showroom at the Sahara Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas Nevada, for over ten years, and at The Steve Wyrick theatre at Planet Hollywood, and then at the Rio Hotel and Casino inside the Crown theatre nightly. Clover also performed in his own show “America’s Sound”, at the Four Queens hotel & casino’s Canyon Club show room, and the Royal Hotel show room, Tues. thru Sat. 4pm until 5:10pm, and he managed & performed in the show “Forever Doo-Wop & “Forever Motor City”, at the Riviera hotel & casino through 2014. Clover wrote and produced his first solo album CD” You Gonna Need A Back” in 2003, and another CD “Love Man” in 2005, which both CD albums included such platinum hit writers as Joshua Thomas and Harvey Scales. In 2006 he produced another CD album titled, “A Tribute to Legends and Motown”. During that same time period, he also started his own independent label, M.E.N. Records while producing and releasing another CD album titled “Loving You” in 2008. Early has chronicled his life and development in his new book, “From Sawdust to Stardust” … found on internet sites NOW. Clover has delivered one powerful performance after another, with his bands, “Early Clover and the fabulous “SOUL DRIFTERS”, and “Soul Of America”, at various venues throughout the country. From June to September of 2018, Clover performed in a Broadway play called “Rock and Roll Man,” in New Hope, PA at The Bucks County Theater. The play opened again at the Berkshire Theater in Pittsfield Massachusetts in June of 2019 and is set to go on to Broadway indefinitely. But in March 2020 the Covid-19 pandemic stalled the process until further notice. He mentors and does motivational speeches also to children of all ages and adults throughout the county, as well as in Las Vegas at West Care for Women and Children, The Special Angels Program out of Los Angeles California, the Andre Agassi School, Wendell P. Williams School, & others as well as performing for seniors at different senior facilities around the country and continue to perform with Cornell Gunter Coasters and his band the Soul Drifters and other positive productive activities while residing Georgia.
